Types of VoIP for Business
VoIP or voice over internet protocol has already been known as cost-effective choice of phone system for all businesses, from small to big. VoIP enables businessmen to receive both data and phone call without providing separate infrastructure for each of it. VoIP may cut down the cost of installing wires to connect each companys division to a single receptionist on the front desk. It is because VoIP may integrate the phone system by using broadband network with single operator.
There are two types of voip telephone system for business. The first one is called as premises-based phone system which is installed inside the company. Businessmen may need to buy the equipment for the installation. Businessmen themselves will also be the ones to be responsible with the maintenance and the management of the phone system. They may need to negotiate the IP contracts with multiple providers which serve them with local and long distance broadband data packet delivering. If premises-based VoIP phone system is being compared with the second type, it will be very much costly for business owners, especially the small ones. The second type is called as outsourced IP phone system. In this second system, there is no hardware to be installed inside the company. The hardware will be handled by the vendor which provides the services. It means business owner will never need to deal with the maintenance. For small office, it will be very effective as headset is the only one on each employees desk. This outsourced phone system needs a router for broadband connection sharing. Usually T-1 and DSL will be used as the router. Unlike premises-based phone system, this outsourced IP phone system is offered as an inclusive package with flat rate. The package may include dial-tone for local, long distance, and international call, phone conference, and internet access.
Business owners may need to create a partnership with an IT consultant as they use the outsourced phone system. It is because business owners need somebody who understand each issue of VoIP services to safely use the phone system for their business deals. This IT consultant should understand the need of the company so that all transactions through the internet protocol can safely be done. IT consultant should also be able to work side by side with IP vendor to ensure the flow of the broadband connection. It is important as problems may occur during the integration of the system.
